Two alleged drug dealers are off the Birchleigh North streets after an area search by the metro police led to their arrests on Friday.
According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for the Norkem Park SAPS, the first suspect was arrested in Strydom Street at around 11am and the second was nabbed in Piet-My-Vrou Avenue at 6pm.
“Metro police officers were searching hawkers in Strydom Street when they found the first suspect,” Molokomme told Express.
“He was walking towards a big rubbish bin, and when they confronted him they found 11 packets of dagga.”
The second suspect was arrested that evening after the officers searched a suspicious-looking man standing next to a parked car.
“Police found 30 small plastic bags of dagga and R200 notes,” Molokomme added.
Both suspects were charged for possession of and selling dagga.
