Have your say in the metro’s new budget and IDP plans

The Kempton Park and Tembisa meetings will both take place on April.

Proposed new tariffs, credit control measures and budget proposals on capital projects are expected to dominate discussions at the City of Ekurhuleni’s draft integrated development and planning (IDP) and budget public consultative meetings.

The City will hold these consultative meetings with residents and other stakeholders from April 2 to 11 April.

“They will have an opportunity to comment on the developmental programme of the City as contained in the IDP for the next five years and the budget for the next three years,” said spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

The consultative meetings will be held in the 20 customer care areas starting at 6pm.

Gadebe said integrated development planning is a process through which municipalities prepare a strategic development plan which extends over a five-year period. This then guides and informs all planning, budgeting, management and decision-making processes in the municipality.

The draft IDP and draft budget documents can be viewed electronically at www.ekurhuleni.gov.za, or at public libraries, pay points and customer care centres during office hours. Comments can be filled in and dropped into budget tips boxes at these offices or e-mailed to budgettips@ekurhuleni.gov.za

Public enquiries can also be made by contacting the IDP office on 011 999 6763, 011 999 0591 and 011 999 5921.

The Kempton Park and Tembisa meetings will both take place on April.

The Kempton Park meeting will take place in the city hall at the civic centre and will be addressed by MMC Vivian Chauke.

The Tembisa meeting will be hosted at Olifantsfontein Hall whereMMC Lesiba Mpya will be present.
