SAPS in the Ekurhuleni North District shared their weekend successes in arrests made over the weekend.
Ekurhuleni North District communications officer Capt Neldah Sekgobela said the cluster arrested 114 suspects from Friday afternoon until Monday morning.
“Thirty-one of the suspects were found driving motor vehicles while under the influence of alcohol, 27 were arrested for assault cases and eight were arrested for possession of drugs.
“Some of the suspects were arrested for cases such as malicious damage to property, theft, shoplifting, arson, pointing of a firearm, robbery and rape.
“Among the suspects is three African males who were arrested in Ivory Park after they committed a house robbery and rape last week Wednesday at 2.50am,” said Sekgobela.
She said the three suspects forcefully entered the complainant’s (28) room and found her, her husband and child sleeping.
“One of the suspects pointed a firearm at them and demanded money.
The suspects took two cellphones and a plasma TV and left.
The suspects came back and forcefully took the complainant with them into a passage where they took turns raping her without protection,” Sekgobela said.
“The suspects also entered two other rooms in the yard and took money and cellphones.”
All the arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Tembisa, Kempton Park and Edenvale Magistrate’s Courts to face their charges.
