A 46-year-old man died after being shot during a hijacking on Partridge Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
Although the hijackers got away with his vehicle, it was found in Midrand less than two hours later. Two men were arrested.
“We suspect the victim was stopped on Partridge Avenue by an unknown number of suspects,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.
“It is alleged there was a struggle which led to the deceased being shot in the upper body, after which the suspects fled with the vehicle.”
Although the deceased lived on Palm Avenue, it is believed he tried to crawl to the entrance of Primrose Mews on Primrose Street to get help.

Attempts by ER24, Sec Pros and Emer-G-Med paramedics to resuscitate the deceased failed and he was declared dead on the scene.
This was followed by silence from all those at the scene, including family members, security officers and police.
A portion of Primrose Street was cordoned off and traffic was redirected.
The hijacked vehicle, a white VW Polo, was recovered in less than two hours after the hijacking. The vehicle is believed to be a company car.
“The vehicle was tracked down and recovered at a car wash in Midrand,” said Sec Pros Security’s Gerald Groenewald.
Mtshali confirmed to Express that two suspects were arrested.
“We don’t know at this stage whether the suspects can be linked to the hijacking scene but we are going to investigate the matter,” said Mtshali.
“Cases of hijacking and murder are under investigation.”
