A bakkie stolen in Edleen on Wednesday last week was recovered within an hour in Elsburg at around 1pm the same day.
“A 32-year-old man was taken into custody by the metro police,” said Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson.
He said the 1400 bakkie was parked on Green Avenue at the owner’s house when it was stolen. A tracking company informed the metro police about the theft, who were able to trace the bakkie to Graceland Flats.
Mokheseng said the man confessed he was on his way to a buyer to sell the vehicle for R5 000.
He was detained at Elsburg Police Station and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
The arrested suspect also faces a charge of possession of stolen property in Bedfordview.
