R190 000 cash up for grabs at mayor’s Diski Games this weekend

All participating teams will receive a participation fee of R20 000

The Mayoral Kings of Diski Challenge will take place at Vosloorus Stadium from April 19-21.

Ekurhuleni executive mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina officially launched the challenge on Tuesday.

During the launch, Masina announced the eight teams set to battle it out over the weekend and the prize money up for grabs. The winning team will walk away with a floating trophy, gold medals and a cash prize of R190 000.

“We want to ensure that we create opportunities for community based teams to grow so we can provide access for the players to be spotted and end up playing at high level tournaments, hence we picked the best of the best to partake on this tournament.

“Through these games, we aim to create a positive sporting experience within our city. We hope scouts from big teams will be coming through to look out for the great talent that will be on display on the weekend,” said Masina.

The second prize is R90 000 and silver medals, while tournament’s leading goal scorer and best player will get R5 000 each.

All participating teams will receive a participation fee of R20 000.

The city will provide transport for all participating teams and their supporters.
