The metro police conducted two high density operations on the eve of Good Friday.
The first special operation took place between 10am and 1pm on April 18 in and around Olifantsfontein and a roadblock was manned at the intersection of the R562 and Madiba Drive, said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesperson.
The operation yielded three arrests. One suspect found driving a stolen silver VW Polo sedan was arrested, while another was caught driving drunk. The third arrestee was found in possession suspected stolen property and was locked up at Olifantsfontein Police Station, said Kgasago.
Ninety-two spot summonses were issued for various offenses, including documentation and defects. One vehicle was discontinued.
In Cresslawn and Croydon more than 60 people were chased away after drinking in public outside two bottle stores.
Eighty-six vehicles were stopped and searched with 55 spot summonses issued for various offenses.
The high visibility in the afternoon and night resulted in no incidents and accidents being reported for the duration of the operation, added Kgasago.
The second operation was conducted on the same day between 3pm and 10pm, focusing on high visibility to dissuade wrongdoers from committing crime and culminated in a roadblock manned on the P51 near China Gate.
