An Edleen Extension Five resident was bitten on the top of his left eye by a suspect on Monday morning.
This came after the suspect was found trespassing in the resident’s home on Plataan Street at about 7am.
“Roughly 10 minutes after my mother left the house to go to Builders Warehouse, I heard our dogs barking,” said Carl van Rooyen. “I went to inspect and found the suspect in the kitchen.
“When I asked him what he was looking for, he told me he was looking for a job.”
Van Rooyen said the door was not locked and the suspect let himself in. “I asked why he did that if he was indeed looking for a job,” said Van Rooyen.
“When I asked, he ran and I gave chase. He went into the bushes and over the railway tracks. I was still chasing him when I saw and asked another resident to stop him. They managed to stop him and when I got to him, we got into a fight, which was when he bit me.
“We continued fighting until he eventually stopped. I am tired of this because this is the second time in two weeks that he came to our house.”
Van Rooyen said he knew the alleged trespasser. Sec Pros and the metro police were on the scene monitoring the situation, while the suspect lay on the ground, covering his face.
At this stage it is not known whether the man had been arrested or not.
