Mooirivier and James Wright intersection finally gets traffic light

The Norkem Park community has asked for a traffic light at the intersection for many years.

Norkem Park residents’ request for a traffic light at the Mooirivier Drive and James Wright Avenue intersection finally got the green light.

“Residents have asked for this traffic light for years,” ward councillor Desmond Mackenzie told Express.

Traffic lights at the four-way intersection were erected during the week of April 8.

“It used to be very difficult to get onto the road [when exiting businesses]. This makes it much safer,” Mackenzie said.

The councillor, however, added that motorists must adhere to the lights and surrounding traffic signs to make its installation a success.

“People must respect the light and pedestrians to prevent any further accidents from happening.”
