Two drug dealers arrested at two houses on Pongolarivier Drive

In both instances the metro police acted on information received from the SAPS CIG North Drug Enforcement Unit.

Two suspected drug dealers were arrested at houses on Pongolarivier Drive in Birch Acres on Friday morning, while drugs with an estimated street value of R55 000 were seized.

A 37-year-old suspected drug dealer with Cat worth over R50 000 in his possession, was nabbed first.

The arrest was as a result of the metro police’s drug enforcement unit acting upon information received from the SAPS CIG North Drug Enforcement Unit, said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesperson.

“The address on Pongola Rivier Drive was visited at 8.45am, whereupon one clear plastic bag containing blocks of Cat, two medium-sized bags with white substances and two digital scales were uncovered. R30 cash was also confiscated by the metro police,” said Kgasago.

At almost the same time, an undocumented man (39) was nabbed with crystal meth valued at R5 000 in his possession.

Kgasago said the drug enforcement unit again acted on the information received from the SAPS CIG North Drug Enforcement Unit. They handcuffed the suspect at 8.50am.

Two knotted plastic bags containing crystal meth and a digital scale were found at his place, as well as R2 050 cash, suspected to be the proceeds from illicit dealings, said Kgasago.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect possesses no valid documents to be in the country legally.
