Man arrested for allegedly stealing booze from truck on Pretoria Road

All three suspects were caught taking items out of parked vehicles in Kempton Park CBD.

Kempton Park Crime Prevention Unit arrested three suspects on charges of theft out of a motor vehicle and possession of suspected stolen goods in Kempton Park CBD.

Two suspects were arrested on Monday evening while the officers were on foot patrol in civilian clothing.

“The officers noticed two suspects open a canopy window of a bakkie parked on the corner of West Street and Central Avenue,” said Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“Drill bits, hammer, screw driver, grinder and razor handler were among the items allegedly stolen from the bakkie by the suspects.”

Ditshego said the officers approached the suspects, aged 24 and 25, and they were arrested for theft out of a motor vehicle and possession of suspected stolen property.

“On Tuesday morning, officers also from the crime prevention unit, noticed a man stealing alcohol from a truck parked near Cambridge Supermarket on Pretoria Road,” explained Ditshego.

“Items were being off-loaded from the truck, and the suspect waited for the workers to go inside the shop to drop off items. The 45-year-old suspect was arrested for theft out of a motor vehicle and possession of suspected stolen property.

“Police believe this is a breakthrough as motor vehicles are continuously broken into at the CBD. We hope justice will be served.”
