Three teenagers were arrested in Birchleigh on May 18 after they allegedly robbed a 33-year-old woman.
According to Capt Lesibana Molokome, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, the victim was walking near the corner of Elgin Road and Pierneef Street at around 6.15pm when the three teens allegedly attacked her from behind.
“They grabbed her and took her cellphone by force,” Molokomme told Express.
One suspect was later arrested, which led to the arrest of the other two co-conspirators.
Molokomme said the suspects were released from custody into their parents’ care and will appear in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court to face charges of common robbery.
