Alleged Kaalfontein murderer killed during mob justice

Police diving unit was called to the scene and found the body of the alleged murder suspect.

Kempton Park SAPS station commander, Brig Samuel Maredi, strongly condemns the mob justice incident which occurred on Saturday at the Kaalfontein informal settlement.

A suspect was allegedly killed during the mob justice for an alleged incident that occurred on May 31.

“Two males allegedly got into an argument which lead to one being stabbed,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“Police were summoned to the scene and found the victim with several stab wounds. He was declared dead on the scene.”

Jethro also said the police returned to the settlement the following day.

“It appears the community mobilised and attacked the murder suspect. When police arrived they were informed that the suspect was attacked by the community and dumped in a drain at the settlement,” explained Jethro.

“Police’s diving unit was called to the scene and managed to find his body. We condemn the alleged action of the community and encourage the community to call the police when they have information about an incident or alleged suspect.”
