
Ivory Park police are requesting for assistance from the community after a 23-year-old man was shot and killed at the corners of Freedom Drive and June 16 Road, Extension Two, Ivory Park, on June 7.
The victim is from Ehlanzeni Section Tembisa and was in the company of other people when they heard gunshots. Everyone ran in different directions. An unknown African man, who is the suspect, was seen fleeing the scene.
Capt Bernard Matimulane, Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, said the deceased was rushed to the local clinic and died on arrival. He had two gunshot wounds.
“The motive for the killing is unknown and Ivory Park police are busy investigating. They will appreciate any piece of information that may assist them in apprehending the suspect,” said Matimulane.
Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, said because of the time of the day during which this incident took place they believe that someone within that vicinity may have seen the suspect fleeing the scene.
“I am appealing to the community to assist us in bringing the murderer to justice and to bring the much-desired closure to the family of the deceased,” said Ngcobo.
