Angry Ivory Park residents castrate, kill gang-rapist

A murder case has been opened but no one has been arrested.

A man accused of being involved in the gang-rape of two Ivory Park girls late Saturday night, had been castrated and killed by angry community members.

Following the incident, Col Lungelo Dlamini, police spokesperson, warned members of the community against taking the law into their own hands.

The two girls, aged 14 and 18, were gang-raped by three men at an informal settlement in Ivory Park. Police are following up leads to arrest the other two suspects who managed to escape from community members who tried to apprehend them at the scene of the incident.

Dlamini said the two girls were walking to Lindokuhle informal settlement when they were confronted by the suspects armed with a knife and firearm.

“The suspects raped them repeatedly. A member of the public who saw the incident alerted the community who came out and confronted the alleged rapists. Two of the suspects escaped and the other was caught and killed by members of the community at the scene.”
