Eight arrested by flying squad over the weekend

A 9mm pistol and six live rounds of ammunition were found

It was a busy weekend for the police as they successfully made a number of breakthroughs.

A suspect was arrested and charged with attempted murder. According to WO Grant Giblin, of the Benoni Flying Squad, the incident happened in Ivory Park Extension 13.

“A 9mm pistol and six live rounds of ammunition were found and confiscated on scene,” he said.

Still in Ivory Park, three suspects were arrested after being found in possession of baby products, grooming kits and hair dryers to the value of R150 000.

“In Ebony Park one suspect was arrested after he was found with a stolen silver Tata, while a further three suspects were arrested at Phumulani Mall for common robbery and assault,” concluded Giblin.
