The City of Ekurhuleni has delivered a state-of-the-art community park designed to thrill and amuse all, young and old.
Residents of Ibazelo Section, will soon enjoy the aesthetically pleasing environment of a park that has alongside it a commuter train track.
“The track is on a higher slope for safety reasons, but the occasional passing of a commuter train alongside the park will add to a pleasing sight from the park.
A tunnel bridge was developed beneath the rail track for all residents on both sides of the track to access the park,” mentioned the city’s spokesperson, Themba Gadebe.

He said the park will be equipped with outdoor training equipment for those who are interested in personal fitness, benches for relaxation and trees and shrubs to add to the relaxing environment.
“Among other features of the park are playing equipment, entertainment area, ablution facilities and access control to keep the equipment and patrons safe,” continued Gadebe.
Before the development of the park, residents had to walk long distances to other parks.
Enoch Zulu, a resident in the area, said that the tunnel bridge is the most appealing of the features of the park.
“Many people have been knocked down while trying to cross over the railway line in the past. By making this bridge, the City has saved many lives. It also adds to the beauty of our park,” he said.
Zulu then called on fellow residents to protect the park, as there is a worrying trend of community members not doing anything when vandals destroy community facilities.
Gadebe said residents can hire the entertainment area to hold community and private functions. The entertainment facilities consist of a hall and a braai area.
The community is already using other areas of the park that are complete.
