Gun-toting men hijack truck in Tembisa

The truck was taken to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni.

A truck hijacked in Tembisa on Monday night was later recovered by the metro police in Etwatwa near Daveyton.

Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesperson, said EMPD Equestrian Unit members recovered the truck at 6am on Tuesday morning.

“The truck driver was assailed by four gun-toting men who forced him out of the vehicle and sped away with it. The dashboard of the truck was found badly stripped, apparently by the robbers who were trying to locate the tracking device with the aim of removing it to avoid detection,” said Kgasago.
