Suspected drug dealer offers police R100 bribe

The suspects were arrested during an operation in Kempton Park central business district.

Kempton Park SAPS’ crime prevention unit was kept busy on July 20.

Six suspects were arrested in different areas for drug-related crimes. The first incident occurred on Gladiator Street in Rhodesfield.

“Police spotted three suspicious-looking people, stopped and searched them. Dagga was found in their possession and suspicions are the suspects were either dealing or selling,” said Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“The operation continued and another suspect was arrested next to a pub on West Street.”

Ditshego said another suspect was arrested on North Rand Road.

“Within minutes of arresting the suspect on North Rand Road, another suspect was arrested on the same road,” said Ditshego.

“The last suspect was arrested for bribery too after he offered the officers R100 for his release.”

All suspects, aged between 20 and 31, were detained pending their appearances in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.
