Pick n Pay ‘bread thief’ caught with 160 loaves hidden in boxes

The suspect was caught hiding the loaves of bread in boxes.

Kempton Park SAPS arrested a 41-year-old man after he allegedly stole 160 loaves of bread at Pick n Pay Aston Manor on July 24.

The suspect is believed to be an employee of the local store.

“According to reports, the man works at the store’s bakery. It is alleged that while they were preparing bakery goods, including the shop’s own-baked bread, the suspect kept loading loaves into boxes,” said Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“The manager noticed the employee wasn’t packing the bread where they normally do but taking some elsewhere. When followed they realised he was hiding the loaves in boxes.

Police were summoned to the scene and the suspect was arrested.”

He faces theft charges.
