Bank fraudster at Capitec Bank sent to jail

She was arrested in 2018 after attempting to apply for a loan using fraudulent documentation.

Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court sentenced Nonhlanhla Noroyita (35) to five years’ imprisonment, of which two years were suspended, on July 24.

Noroyita was arrested on December 13 last year.

“Noroyita went to Capitec Bank at Cavendish Glen Shopping Centre to apply for a loan using fraudulent documentation, including a fake ID and bank statement,” said Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“When the bank’s forensic team verified the documents they discovered tit didn’t belong to her and were fraudulent.”

Police were called to the scene and arrested Noroyita. Two years of her five-year sentence had been suspended on condition she was not convicted of fraud committed during the period of suspension.
