A couple hid under the bed in their Ivory Park shack on Monday when the metro police came knocking, looking for a stolen Big Boy motorcycle.
The officers were surprised to also stumble upon another stolen motorcycle as well as an unlicensed Winchester hunting rifle.
The Mozambican man and woman, aged 25 and 29, were both arrested, said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesperson.
Kgasago said the tracker signal of the Big Boy, stolen in Bramley, led the metro police and vehicle tracking personnel to the shack in Ivory Park Extension 2.
A blue Honda, stolen in Olievenhoutbosch in Pretoria, was also recovered.
“In the same shack, the metro police came across a suspected stolen Winchester hunting rifle. Two suspects, a man and a woman, were found hiding under a bed,” said Kgasago.
The two were detained at Ivory Park Police Station, charged with possession of stolen motor vehicles and possession of an unlicensed firearm. They will appear in Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
