Suspect shot four times in Isando attempted robbery

The other suspect got into the suspected getaway vehicle and left behind the wounded suspect.

A 39-year-old suspect is under police guard in Tembisa Hospital after he was shot during an armed robbery in Isando on Saturday afternoon.

“Police were summoned to Tungsten Street, where they found a male who had multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body,” said Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“The victim alleged he parked and locked his company truck on Tungsten Street outside Spar. He went inside and when he returned, he saw two unknown men fiddling with his truck. One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victim, but the victim was able to draw his licensed firearm and fired four shots.”

The shots wounded the one suspect, but the other suspect got into a red vehicle and fled the scene, leaving the wounded suspect behind.

The suspect in hospital will face armed robbery charges once discharged.
