A man and a woman were arrested in Ivory Park when two stolen motorbikes and an unlicensed hunting rifle were uncovered in their shack on August 12.
EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago said EMPD Specialised Task Team Unit officers made the arrest when a tracker signal of a stolen Big Boy motorbike led the metro police and vehicle tracking personnel to the shack situated at Ivory Park Extension Two.
“Apart from the recovered Big Boy motorbike stolen at Bramley in Johannesburg, another motorbike, a blue Honda, stolen at Olivenhoutbosch in Pretoria area, was also recovered.
“In the shack the officers also came across a suspected stolen Winchester hunting rifle.
“Two suspects, a man and a woman, was found hiding under a bed at the shack and they were arrested,” said Kgasago.
The arrested Mozambican couple, aged 25 and 29, were detained at Ivory Park Police Station and charged with possession of stolen motorbikes and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
They are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
