Waste removal moves into another two-day backlog

This comes less than two weeks after the previous previous problem

Less than two weeks after the City of Ekurhuleni managed to clear a waste removal backlog, they are back at square one.

The City again sits with a two-day backlog this week.

According to ward councillor Tracey Lourenco, Friday teams will clear Wednesday’s backlogs. On Saturday Thursday’s backlogs will be addressed and on Sunday Friday’s areas will be picked up.

Amidst the previous backlog, Ald André du Plessis, DA shadow MMC for environment and waste management, called for the suspension of the head of the department.

Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the City, at the time said the operations had the necessary resources.
