An elderly Edleen couple and a gardener were held at gunpoint on Monday while three armed men robbed their home as well as their daughter’s home adjacent to theirs.
Sgt Johanna Madiga, the spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, said the 87-year-old woman opened the front gate for the gardener at 7.30am so he could work in her daughter’s garden. The daughter was away on holiday.
A short while later she went to check on the gardener and found three unknown men holding him at gunpoint.
Madiga said the suspects took the woman to her house where they took five watches, rings, Kruger Rands and cash.
The suspects then took her husband to their daughter’s house next door.
According to Madiga the suspects brought their own angle grinder which they used to cut open a safe before removing two firearms.
The victims were locked in the laundry before the men fled.
No shots were fired during the robbery and no-one was injured.
