The initial charge of attempted murder had been changed to murder

A 41-year-old Glen Marais man accused of killing his wife will apply for bail in Kempton Park Regional Court today (Wednesday).

Deon van Rensburg is accused of severely assaulting his wife Karien (35) on August 5. She died on Sunday, August 18.

The initial charge of attempted murder had been changed to murder.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, police were called to Arwyp on August 5.

“On arrival they were shown the patient, who was in a coma, with multiple injuries suggestive of an assault. Her husband was later arrested,” said Mtshali.
