Husband accused of killing his wife is granted bail

His wife died in hospital almost two weeks after the alleged attack.

A 41-year-old Glen Marais man accused of killing his wife was granted R10 000 bail in Kempton Park Regional Court on Wednesday.

Deon van Rensburg will again appear in court on October 10.

He is accused of severely assaulting his wife Karien (35) on August 5. She died on August 18.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, police were called to Arwyp on August 5.

“On arrival they were shown the patient, who was in a coma, with multiple injuries suggestive of an assault. Her husband was later arrested,” said Mtshali.
