Man arrested for killing business partner while another is still at large

Matimulane said the suspects have been on the run since then but police never gave up hunting them down.

On August 19 Ivory Park detectives arrested a 37-year-old man in Extension Two, Ivory Park, in connection with last month’s brutal murder of another man.

Ivory Park SAPS communications officer Capt Bernard Matimulane said the suspect and his accomplice are said to have had a disagreement with the deceased over a small business the three co-owned.

“It is alleged that on the day of the murder the suspects went to the shop with the sole aim of demolishing the structure they jointly erected but the deceased tried to prevent them from doing so.

“They assaulted him with hammers, and he died later in hospital,” said Matimulane.

Matimulane said the suspects have been on the run since then but police never gave up hunting them down.

Although one suspect has been arrested, Matimulane said the search for the second suspect is continuing and the police are adamant that he will be arrested in due course.

“The suspect is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon to face a charge of murder.”

The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed the arrest and commended his officers for their determination in ensuring that the suspect is arrested.

Brig Ngcobo is confident that the other suspect who is still at large will soon join the other suspect behind bars.
