Domestic worker charged with stealing, selling employer’s ring

It was only when the victim arrived at home that he realised his ring was missing.

A 37-year-old domestic worker was arrested on theft charges at Kempton Park Police Station on Monday afternoon.

This came after she allegedly stole and sold her employer’s ring.

“The victim said he drove with the domestic worker to Kempton Park central business district for grocery shopping on Sunday afternoon,” said Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“He said he parked his vehicle on Pretoria Road, leaving his domestic worker inside the vehicle and proceeded to buy groceries. Upon his return, he drove his domestic worker home and dropped her off.”

It was only when the victim arrived at home that he realised his ring was missing.

“The victim said he left the ring in the car and it came as a surprise to discover that it was missing,” said Ditshego.

“He called the domestic worker and asked about the ring. She allegedly confessed to have taken it and selling it. The victim and the suspect met at the station the following day, which was when she was arrested.”
