Hijacked taxi found on the outskirts of Tembisa

The driver was summoned some time on Saturday night to ferry four men from Tembisa

Acting on a tip-off from reliable sources, the metro police equestrian unit recovered a robbed motor vehicle in Tembisa.

According to metro police spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng, Officers responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle on the outskirts of Tembisa on Sunday at 7am.

A white Datsun Go was found parked in a veld, a distance from households.

“Officers found the sedan slightly damaged on the inside and upon investigations, the recovered motor vehicle was linked to an e-hailing taxi service.

“According to information the driver was summoned some time on Saturday night to ferry four men from Tembisa. He was robbed off the vehicle at gunpoint and left on the side of the road without his cellphone and wallet,” said Mokheseng.

After the drop off, he managed to get to a police station to report the incident. The discovered Datsun Go was impounded at Van Ryns Deep for further investigations and safekeeping.
