A 17-year-old learner was arrested and charged for theft on September 2, after allegedly stealing at a high school he is attending.
Police spokesperson Capt Ralidzhivha Manyadza said the learner allegedly stole a hard drive and cables from the smart board used at the school.
“The allegations are that the principal and a teacher had inspected whether the smart board was still functioning accordingly earlier on Monday.
“But when they returned to use it later, it was no longer working. They noticed that something was stolen and suspected the learner whom they saw leaving the classroom shortly after them,” said Manyadza.
He said the learner was called into the principal’s office, where he confessed to stealing the hard drive and cables.
“He later brought back the hard drive but the cables were missing. The school called the police and the learner was arrested,” said Manyadza.
