The deceased and his brother had been accused of robbery by members of the community

Ivory Park police have arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged mob justice related to the murder of a local resident in Lindokuhle Section, Ivory Park. The murder took place on Saturday night.

According to the police statement issued by the Ivory Park SAPS Capt Bernard Matimulane, the police became aware of the incident after they were notified of the death of 30-year-old man, allegedly killed by the mob.

“On conducting further investigations, the police learnt that the deceased, and his brother, had been accused of robbery by members of the community.”

The two suspects, aged 23 and 40, have been charged with murder and are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.

The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has expressed his appreciation to the witnesses who came forward, and whose information has helped the police to effect speedy arrests.

“All law abiding citizens within this policing precinct have a responsibility to report incidents such as this. Failure to do this will give rise to lawlessness,” said Ngcobo.
