Edleen child-minder remains in custody after baby’s death

She will be back in court on Monday

Mokgadi Sepaela (37) is still in custody after she was arrested for culpable homicide on September 6 in Edleen.

Sepaela was arrested after a nine-month-old baby was declared dead at Little Angels Crèche & Aftercare on Modderhill Road.

The baby was under Sepaela’s care and police arrested her after they viewed CCTV footage taken from the room in which the child was during the day.

“Sepaela appeared in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday and the case was postponed to September 16 for a bail hearing,” said Sgt Johanna Madiga, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS.

“Sepaela’s address is incorrect and the case was therefore postponed while she remains in custody.”
