Seventy-six suspects had been arrested the past weekend in stop-and-search operations and road blocks.
According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, Ekurhuleni North Police and the metro police joined forces in these operations.
The operations were conducted on Friday and Saturday. Suspects were arrested for drunken driving, malicious damage to property, assault with intend to do grievous bodily harm, possession of drugs, possession of suspected drugs, burglary, reckless and negligent driving, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and shoplifting.
All the arrested suspects will appear in Kempton Park and Tembisa magistrate’s courts.
