Benoni Flying Squad makes its mark in Tembisa

Benoni Flying Squad arrests four suspects and recovers one firearm.

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested four suspects and recovered one firearm between September 13 and 15.

Members following up information in Tembisa found one suspect in possession of dagga in Enxiweni Section. Upon arrest, the suspect made matters worse by attempting to offer officers R300 to let him go, which just added another charge of bribery to the case.

WO Grant Giblin, communications officer for Benoni Flying Squad, said in Umthambeka Section another suspect was arrested after being found in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

“Responding to a complaint in Isivana Section, Tembisa, led to the arrest of two suspects after one person was assaulted and it was alleged there was a pointing of a firearm,” said Giblin.

Investigation continues in all cases.

“The SAPS would like to advise the community that a person attempting to bribe a police official can also be arrested, as it is a criminal offence,” said Giblin.

The suspects, aged between 25 and 37 years, will be appearing in the local magistrate’s court to face charges of common robbery, possession of drugs, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and pointing of a firearm.
