Sizipho Unathi Mhatu (30), who is accused of the murder of her husband Mncedi Mhatu (33), was released on warning at Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
“It is alleged the couple got into an argument about a phone and began fighting at their Van Riebeeck Park home on the night of September 11,” said Sgt Johanna Madiga, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS.
“Sizipho allegedly stabbed Mncedi on the upper body. He was rushed to Arwyp and police were called to the scene. Upon the police’s arrival at their home they were informed the couple went to hospital.”
Madiga said the police then went to the hospital, where they found Mncedi stable and conscious.

“However, Mncedi died in hospital the following day and Sizipho was arrested on charges of murder.”
Sizipho appeared in court on Monday, where she was released on warning, pending the senior public prosecutor’s decision.
