A seven-year-old girl has become a recent statistic in Tembisa after she was allegedly raped by a 61-year-old man.
The suspect has since been arrested and charged. He is due to make an appearance in Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
“The mother of the child alleged that she was informed by her daughter’s friends that ‘umkhulu’ had taken her to a playground in Tlamatlama Section.
“They further told her that they followed them secretly. They saw the old man taking off the underwear of the little girl. The child herself also told her mother that the old man had lured her to an open space at the playground where he raped her,” said Tembisa SAPS Zone 1 police spokesperson, Capt Ralidzhivha Manyadza.
