An alleged robbery suspect died on September 21 after being run over by a car in Edleen.
It is alleged the suspect robbed two women of their groceries on the corner of Duvenage and Okkerneut avenues prior to his death.
“The deceased allegedly took about four plastic bags of groceries from the two women and ran away,” said Sgt Johanna Madiga, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS.
“The women screamed for help and two males from the community chased the suspect and managed to stop him, but they were unable to apprehend him for long as he took out a knife.
“The deceased then proceeded to flee the scene and was hit by a vehicle as he tried to cross the street.”
Madiga said the man was declared dead on the scene and a case of culpable homicide wass under investigation.
