Armed robbers flee with over 300 cell phones from Pep in Elgin Mall

According to the CCTV footage at the centre, the suspects were using a white Toyota Corolla

Norkem Park SAPS is on a manhunt for five suspects who stole 350 boxes of cell phones at Pep Store in Elgin Mall on Sunday morning.

Five employees at the store were ambushed by the five who entered the store and pointed three firearms at them.

“The employees were forced into the manager’s officer and the suspects demanded their cell phones and money,” said Sgt Johanna Madiga, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS.

“The manager opened the safe and the suspects took the cell phone boxes and put it inside two of their big bags.”

Madiga said R450 was taken from the manager’s wallet before the suspects fled the scene.

“According to the CCTV footage at the centre, the suspects were using a white Toyota Corolla. When the registration number was checked it appeared to belong to a car rental company,” said Madiga.

“There were no injuries reported and no shots fired. A case of business robbery is under investigation.”

A business robbery at Pep in Elgin Mall took place on Sunday morning. There were allegedly five armed suspects who took over 300 cell phone boxes. The suspects were seen leaving in this white Toyota Corolla.
