Suspect arrested in Emfihlweni Section for dealing in dagga

During this arrest, dagga weighing over 800g was confiscated.

A 33-year-old suspect was arrested in Emfihlweni Section, Tembisa, for dealing in dagga.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday by Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members, who swiftly reacted to a tip-off.

According to WO Grant Giblin, spokseperson for BFS, the suspect was cornered at his residential place after BFS were tipped off by community members.

“The incident occurred at around 7am when our officers followed up on information about dagga being sold at the suspect’s place.

“Upon searching, a plastic bag containing a large amount of dagga was found in a room. The suspect was arrested immediately. The dagga weighed in excess of 3.9kg, with a street value of about R12 000,” said Giblin.

About two months ago, this very same unit arrested a suspect in this very same section, also for dagga dealing.

During this arrest, dagga weighing over 800g was confiscated.

“Large quantities of dagga and the sale thereof remain unlawful. The arrested suspect will soon be appearing in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on charges of dealing in dagga,” said Giblin.
