An escort service security officer was airlifted to hospital on Monday morning after being wounded in an alleged hijacking incident on the corner of Director and Winnipeg roads in Spartan just after 10am on Monday morning.
The incidentĀ involved an escort service vehicle and a truck loaded with goods in transport.
According to Shawn Herbst, spokesperson for for Netcare, reports from the scene indicated that an armed response officer was fired upon while chasing suspects in his vehicle.
When Express visited the scene, people said the officer was in pursuit of a hijacked vehicle. The officer’s vehicle was struck multiple times.
“Fortunately a security officer escaped the hail of bullets unscathed,” Herbst told Express.
