One of the churches at Umthambeka Section, Tembisa South, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by two unknown men who entered the church and threatened the congregation with a firearm at 2.30pm on October 27.
Capt Sekgobela, the Ekurhuleni district communications officer, said it is alleged by the complainant that there was a church service and during the proceedings, the church members decided to raise money for their church’s birthday.
“After the collection, the Treasury made an announcement about the money collected and that’s when the suspects entered and threatened them with a firearm and took all the money on the table and fled the scene. The suspects are unknown,” said Sekgobela.
