Emergency water shutdown called as some water is restored

The shutdown has been necessitated to repair a heavy water leak on the main pipeline

The City of Ekurhuleni has instituted an emergency water shutdown from 8pm on Friday evening until 10am on Saturday morning.

According to a notice sent to councillors, low water pressure to no water will be experienced in Isando, Spartan, parts of Pomona, Brentwood Park, Bonaero Park and Croydon.

In the meantime supply to Kempton Park CBD, Cresslawn, Glen Marais, Aston Manor, Allen Grove, Bredell, Rhodesfield and Nimrod Park has been reinstated via an alternative feed.

It is expected that these areas will not be affected by the shutdown. However, updates will be communicated should circumstances change, the notice read.

Water tankers will be supplied to affected areas in the morning. Locations will be communicated in due course.
