Robber shot dead on Essenwood Street in Birchleigh

A robber was shot dead in Birchleigh on Tuesday afternoon while his three accomplices are on the run.

According to information from the scene on Essenwood Street the four men allegedly tried to rob a woman of her cellphone.

A resident apparently witnessed the incident and shots were fired.

The wounded suspect tried to get away and jumped over a residence’s wall. He was later found dead on the premises.

It is still an active crime scene with police and emergency services on the scene.
