Ekurhuleni wins impressive Rand Water awards

The City achieved the highest volume of water use below the target allocated by Rand Water.

The City of Ekurhuleni raked in two impressive awards at the Rand Water Forum’s Awards at Emperors Palace on November 30.

It was a proud moment for the City when divisional head for water quality and revenue management Mbali Matiwane ascended the stage to collect the two awards.

The awards were in water quality assurance and best metropolitan municipality in water demand management.

The City achieved the highest volume of water use below the target allocated by Rand Water.

Achieving a Rand Water Quality Assurance Award means the City has set the benchmark for good partnerships in the water sector. It was measured by:

• Water quality-monitoring programme aligned to the latest legislative requirements

• Showing initiative in reporting and resolving water quality challenges

• Regular liaison and communication to optimise water quality management procedures

The volume of water supplied to the City is within its allocation target for the 2018/2019 financial year, and the City achieved the highest volume of water use below the target allocated by Rand Water to be the best among other municipalities supplied by the Integrated Vaal River System (IVRS).

The awards are awarded to municipalities within the Rand Water area of supply, which includes Gauteng, parts of Mpumalanga, parts of the Free State and parts of North West.
