Ekurhuleni executive mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina, joined by the Minister of Small Business Development, Khumbudzo Mtshavheni, and National Empowerment Fund CEO Philiswe Mthethwa, on Friday launched the R150-million Ekurhuleni Community Enterprise Fund (ECEDF) in KwaThema Business Park.
The ECEDF is designed to support the development of community enterprises in the form of individual entrepreneurs, small, micro and medium enterprises, cooperatives, informal traders and formal businesses.
It provides financial and non-financial assistance to address township economy, industrialisation and human development, among others.
The City is currently running information sessions to inform potential beneficiaries on how to access the business development opportunities provided through the fund. Upcoming information sessions are at the Boksburg City Hall (December 10), Springs City Hall (January 20) and Rabasotho Hall in Tembisa (January 27).
