Mashimong man sentenced to18 years for armed robbery and kidnapping

Two separate cases of armed robbery and kidnapping were opened

Collen Koos Dlamini (41) of Mashimong Section was on Thursday sentenced to an 18-year-jail term for robbery and kidnapping.

According to court papers, on July 18, 2012, Dlamini and his friends approached and attacked a British American Tobacco company employee who was distributing cigarettes to customers in Mqantsha Section.

The victim in this case was forced into the company vehicle at gun point by the suspects, with Dlamini being the one with the firearm.

After the victim was forced into the vehicle, Dlamini and his friends offloaded all the cigarettes from the company vehicle into theirs.

Two separate cases of armed robbery and kidnapping were opened and investigations led to the arrest of Dlamini.

He was found guilty on both charges by the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court. Dlamini was given 15 years for the armed robbery charge and three years for kidnapping.
