Pageant hosted in Ivory Park to raise funds for charity

Ivory Park hosted its first annual Mr and Miss December.

Tebatso Meubel Sebashe and Nkateko Mabunda hosted the first annual Mr and Miss December beauty pageant on December 14 at Ivory Park Kopanong Sporting Ground, to raise funds to help charity organisations around Tembisa.

There was food sold and jumping castles for the children.

A pantsula dance group called the Red Devils entertained the crowd. One of the co-founders, Sebashe, said they were fund-raising to donate to orphanages in Tembisa and hopes to go bigger and better next year.

“We are going to be donating to Inkateko Orphange which takes care of approximately 25 children. Children need support from extended branches outside of the orphanage.

“Looking at stats, children drop out of school because they do not have breakfast or lunch.

“With the vision in mind to help the needy, I approached Nkateko only to find she shares the same values, in addition, she has the history and knowledge of the modelling world,” said Sebashe.

The pageant saw Neo Bvuma being crowned second prince, Yamkela Sivuthu first prince and Ntokozo Xokolo as king. The ladies saw Noluthando Mathonsi as second princess, Florence Mphago first princess, and Malebo Malele as queen.

Malele said winning her fifth pageant title was the best feeling.

“My duties as a queen are to inspire the young people to follow their dreams and start charity work. My next pageant will be in Limpopo on December 21,” said Malele.

Mabunda added that the pageant was not as successful as they had hoped, but they are not throwing in the towel.

“Our queen will remain queen and serve her duties when we do charity works. In the next pageant, she will do the crowning. But we need to grow. We saw our mistakes and hope to learn from them and score a sponsor so we can do good for the young people,” said Mabunda.
