Gauteng Flying Squad nabs 95 suspects, recovers 25 vehicles
Members recovered 25 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles with nine arrests for the possession of these vehicles. Eight firearms were recovered accompanying seven arrests.
Police Emergency Services (PES), comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 95 suspects, recovered 25 motor vehicles and eight firearms between August 28 and September 3.
Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle check points, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 36 arrests for serious crimes including assault, possession of suspected stolen property, house robbery, murder, possession of regulated medicine, fraud, attempted robbery, robbery, driving under the influence of alcohol, theft out of motor vehicle, warrant of arrest, malicious damage to property, handling of a firearm while intoxicated, rape, business robbery and illegal immigrants.

In further policing, 43 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroin, dagga, cat (cocaine), Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigation continues in these cases.
The suspects will be appearing in the local Magistrates’ Courts across Gauteng.
